The Wissahickon Charter School has been planned around three essential elements: an environmental focus recognizing the importance of active learning that allows students to experience the curriculum, recognition of service learning projects as a key element in students' academic success, an emphasis on family involvement at all levels of the school organization, with special emphasis on parents as partners in the learning experiences of their children.
As part of their Eatiquette program that brings family-style healthy eating into school cafeterias, VFFC was pleased to provide the Wissahickon Charter School with round tables, chairs and an industrial ice maker. Children will now have the opportunity to eat family-style during their lunch period, giving them a chance to learn the social and health benefits of good food. Wissahickon students will also now enjoy a pitcher of ice water at every table at lunch this year, helping the school comply with new national standards.
